Sony PSP Go

Product summary

Sony PSP Go
Manufacturer: Sony
Part Number: PSPGO

Specifications:Product Description: Sony PSP Go - Handheld game system ; Form Factor: Handheld ; Processor: 333 MH

Form factor: The PSP Go has a 3.8-inch wide screen (versus 4.3-inch on all previous PSP models). It's said to be 43 percent lighter than the PSP 3000, which means it would tip the scales at about 3.8 ounces. The PSP Go design is very reminiscent of the Sony Mylo--the screen slides up to reveal the controls.

Storage: The Go will offer 16GB of built-in flash memory, and it's expandable via a Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot. There is no UMD (Universal Media Disc) drive on the PSP Go. While that no doubt allows for the smaller size (and, we hope, the potential for better battery life), it also means there's no way to play existing PSP software you might own on the PSP Go.

Controls: While the layout may be different, the control scheme on the PSP Go is little changed from earlier PSP models: a four-way d-pad on the left, the standard quartet of geometrically coded Sony controls (circle, square, cross, triangle) on the right, select/start buttons in the center, and the PlayStation"home" button to the left of the screen.

Microsoft Windows 7 (Professional)

Product summary

The good:Strong design and Microsoft don't always go together, but they do in Windows 7. Users might take a while to get used to the new taskbar and Aero Peek, but they're a pleasure to use.

The bad:Performance is still hit-or-miss in Windows 7. At the ripe age of seven, Windows XP still performs better in some categories.

The bottom line:Windows 7 is more than what Vista should have been, it's where Microsoft needed to go. How much damage Vista did and whether Windows 7 is enough for people to finally abandon Windows XP are questions that nobody has the answers to right now.

Specifications:License qty: 1 PC ; License type: Complete package ; Min hard drive space: 16 GB ; ; See full specs

Norton AntiVirus 2009

Product summary

The good:Norton AntiVirus 2009 has a leaner footprint, improved speed, white listing, and other technologies to mark clean files as trusted, and free technical support.

The bad:Despite its free telephone support, Norton AntiVirus 2009 lacks adequate online technical support and, intentional or not, it drives users to its paid technical support services.

The bottom line:Norton AntiVirus 2009 hits all the right security notes, and its superior protection technologies might even win back some jaded anti-Symantec folks, though for some, technical support may continue to frustrate.

Specifications:License qty: 1 user ; License type: Complete package ; Operating system: Microsoft Windows Vista Business , Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate , Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic , Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium , Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 , Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 , Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2 ; ; See full specs

Price range: $11.99 - $

iWork '09

Product summary

The good:Interface tweaks make commonly used features more accessible. Flashy, eye-catching presentations are even easier to make. iWork apps play well together with added interoperability across the suite.

The bad:Still no business-grade e-mail client. iWork.com Web component doesn't allow for true collaboration. The lack of an auto save feature is a particularly problematic omission we hope to see in future releases.

The bottom line:Intuitive interface design and easy access to useful features make iWork the best office suite choice on the Mac. Though it lacks some of Microsoft Office's advanced options, iWork '09 is an emerging powerhouse in its own right.

Specifications:License qty: 1 user ; License type: Complete package ; Operating system: Apple MacOS X 10.4.11 , Apple MacOS X 10.5.6 or later ; ; See full specs

Product summary

The good:Best-performing card in the $300 price range; four DVI outputs let you connect up to four LCDs.

The bad:Worst power efficiency in its class.

The bottom line:Even if it's a relative power hog, the Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 brings so much speed and utility to the table it's hard for us to recommend another midrange 3D card. Only the particularly power conscious or those who play games with known multichip scaling issues should look elsewhere.

Specifications:Graphics Processor / Vendor: 2 GPUs - ATI Radeon HD 4850 ; Max Resolution (external): 2560 x 1600 ; Video Memory Installed: 2 GB ; See full specs

Product summary

The good:The EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked is the most power-efficient card in its category; $40 less than its primary competition.

The bad:Slowest performance among its peers.

The bottom line:We don't think most gamers shopping for a midrange 3D card are looking for power efficiency, but for those conscientious few, the EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked is the card for you. Otherwise, you can get noticeably more performance and capability from an only slightly more expensive ATI card.

Apple iPhone 3GS - 32GB

Posted by Razi Ejaz 0 comments

Product summary

The good:The iPhone 3GS finally adds common cell phone features like multimedia messaging, video recording, and voice dialing. It runs faster; its promised battery life is longer; and the multimedia quality continues to shine.

The bad:The iPhone 3GS' call quality shows no improvements and the 3G signal reception remains uneven. We still don't get Flash Lite, USB transfer and storage, or multitasking.

The bottom line:The iPhone 3GS doesn't make the same grand leap that the iPhone 3G made from the first-generation model, but the latest Apple handset is still a compelling upgrade for some users. The iPhone 3GS is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.

Specifications:OS provided: Apple Mac OS X 10.4.11 ; Talk time: Up to 600 min See full specs

Product summary

The good:The LG enV Touch has two beautiful displays, a nice touch-screen interface, and a great QWERTY keyboard. It has impressive features, such as a 3.2-megapixel camera, EV-DO Rev. A, and a full HTML Web browser.

The bad:The LG enV Touch's touch-screen interface could use some refinement, and the Web browser experience is not as smooth as we would like. Visual Voice Mail and corporate e-mail support costs additional monthly fees. The lack of Wi-Fi is disappointing.

The bottom line:The LG enV Touch's combination of great design and top-notch features makes it one of the top Verizon Wireless Wireless phones we've ever seen.

Specifications:Band / mode: CDMA2000 1X 1900/800 ; Talk time: Up to 260 min ; Combined with: With digital camera / digital player ; See full specs

Do you believe in miracles?

(Credit: Donald Bell/CNET)

I'll admit right off the bat that I've been a pretty big fan of the Zune ever since I bought my first one back in 2007. I've also had some disappointments, which I haven't been shy about sharing--and last year's half-hearted Zune hardware refresh had me losing faith that Microsoft would be able to steer this one out of the ditch.

Well, having just geeked-out with a pair of Zune HDs for about an hour, I am tentatively reaffirming my faith in Microsoft. This thing was worth the wait, folks. Mind you, it's not going to crush the iPod Touch--a product that for all intents and purposes is more mobile computer than media player--but it's safe to say that the Zune finally has the power to make good on the promise of delivering one of the richest music experiences on a portable device.
